This article reports on the proposed establishment of a single safeguarding board for Northern Ireland that will be responsible for coordinating efforts to protect children.
Abstract:
The article reports on the proposed establishment of a single safeguarding board for Northern Ireland that will be responsible for coordinating efforts to protect children. The board will replace the existing area child protection committees and will have an independent chair. According to Health and Social Service Minister Shaun Woodward, the vetting and barring scheme for people working with children being introduced in England would apply in the country.
