Abstract:
The article discusses the religious education (RE) of four nations in Great Britain. In England, all schools are required to teach RE to pupils. However, the parents may legally withdraw their children from RE. Christianity is considered as the main religious and moral education for all children and young people in Scotland. RE has been compulsory in Wales which also abides by the 1996 Education Act. The school assemblies in Northern Ireland are required to have a religious element.
